Photo Gallery: Southern Thunder H-D’s Grand Re-opening Party

By John Galvin

SOUTHAVEN, MISS., JUNE 7—Earlier this summer the folks down in Blues Country at Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson (STHD) held their Grand Re-opening Party, which also doubled as a way for new owner Bob Parsons to introduce himself to the people of Southaven and surrounding communities. And he definitely left a great first impression on the northern Mississippi area.

STHD is located right off of Highway 55 in the southern Memphis, Tennessee, suburb of Southaven. Parsons and the STHD staff planned an all-day bash featuring live music under the awesome Bar & Shield-branded water tower, apparel and food vendors, raffles, amazing deals on MotorClothes and other items, and performances by headlining acts Black Oak Arkansas and Molly Hatchet on the multi-million-dollar stage set up in the dealership’s expansive parking lot.

The party was free to anyone carrying a motorcycle endorsement, and for a $20 donation those without were allowed entry to the bash that was benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of northern Mississippi. All monies taken in at the gate, along with ALL monies from T-shirt sales (not just profit), went straight to the youth organization. To top that, Parsons also made an announcement that he is donating an additional $100,000 on behalf of the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Mississippi, as well as underwriting renovations on four of the area’s locations that serve more than 2,000 children annually. It was a great time, with great people and the cause was so much more than just an “open house” for the dealership. Parsons and crew made their presence known in northern Mississippi, and judging by the applause and reaction from those in attendance, the community couldn’t be happier.
